I have decided, once again, that I am not cool. However, I did hear something that was really cool today.
I stopped by my local guitar shop with my new Frenzel amp head to plug it into some speaker cabinets. I first plugged it into an Orange 2×12 with Celestion Vintage 30s in it. It sounded great! I was really impressed with the overall warmth of the amp and cabinet. I could not be happier. Well, I could, but I’m very content.
I also tried a 1×10 all pine cabinet. The speaker was a Jensen, and it sounded good, but not as good as the 12’s. I will admit that the all pine cabinet from Old School Amps was one of my inspirations for wanting to build a speaker cab myself. I am thinking an open back cab since I won’t have to worry about acoustics as much. However, I don’t know what that will do to the warmth and bass I heard from the Orange cabinet. I’m got some decisions to make.
And now I’ve got to hurry so I can hear my guitars through the Frenzel as soon as possible! It was inspiring!
