Pleasantly surprised by another episode of Austin City Limits. This time it was the Willie Nelson with Asleep at the Wheel episode. The surprise wasn’t really Willie or the backing band. Don’t get me wrong. The show was great. Songs were great. The young female fiddler was great. The duet was great. The surprise was Ray Benson.
Actually, it was how low Ray Benson wears his Valley Arts Guitars tele style guitar. He appears to be a big guy. And that neck stayed pretty level without moving the entire show. And his Valley Arts Guitar tele is pretty cool with the state of Texas set in lighter wood (very cool looking guitar with the humbucker, single coil in the center position, and a single coil tele style in the brass bridge). However, is it just me, or is that thing low for an “old school” country and western swing guy?
